BIOGRAPHY

Virginia Cox represents architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals in the construction industry throughout the course of a project-from negotiating construction agreements to litigation of post-construction disputes, including design and construction defect claims, delay claims, and payment disputes. Virginia has successfully obtained numerous dismissals, summary judgments, and favorable settlements for her clients.

Virginia is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Below are a few of Virginia’s representative engagements:

  •  Successfully obtained dismissal of all claims asserted against general contractor on the basis of lack of personal jurisdiction.
  • Successfully obtained a complete defense award in favor of engineering firm after a two-week arbitration in defense of claimed damages in excess of $10 million.  
  • Successfully obtained summary judgment on behalf of an architect against claims for breach of contract and negligence.  
  • Successfully obtained early dismissals on behalf of engineers, architects, and surveyors.  
  • Successfully obtained summary judgment on behalf of real estate agency in defense of claims of fraud, violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and negligent misrepresentation. 
  • Successfully obtained numerous summary judgments and dismissals of premises liability claims in both Texas State and Federal courts in defense of international department store.  
  • Successfully obtained numerous settlements of premises liability claims in defense of international department store.
