In January 2019, CMW partner Larry Johnson, along with associate, Andrew Willard, obtained a jury trial verdict finding of no negligence in favor of their client, a civil engineering firm with offices throughout Texas and its primary location in Austin.  The plaintiff owned an apartment complex located on I-35 in Austin.  The plaintiff sued Golden Corral claiming that drainage from the adjacent Golden Corral site was causing flooding at the apartment site.  Golden Corral, in turn, sued CMW’s client claiming that its design of the site caused the flooding, via claims of contribution and breach of contract.  After a week-long trial in Travis County district court in Austin, Texas, the jury returned a verdict of “no” on the question of negligence as to CMW’s client – a complete defense verdict for the client.
