Lance Travis focuses his practice on the defense of utility companies, health care providers, insurance carriers, and retailers in cases involving personal injury and property damages.  His primary expertise is in cases involving catastrophic injury, death, and exposure to punitive damages.  Lance is known for his ability to simplify complex issues, his effective communication with judges and juries, and his attention to detail.  He has also successfully authored and argued numerous appeals before the Texas Appellate Courts.

Lance’s accomplishments for his clients include:

  • Obtained a defense verdict for an electric utility company in a case involving serious injury caused by a high-voltage electrical contact.
  • After a two-week trial, secured a defense verdict and finding of no negligence for a hospital system in a wrongful death case.
  • Successfully prevented certification of classes in several multi-party matters filed as class actions.
  • Prevailed in striking all liability experts and obtaining summary judgment including an award of attorney’s fees in case involving high-voltage electrical contact and interpretation of Chapter 752 of the Texas Health & Safety Code.
  • Obtained a defense verdict for a home health nurse on catastrophic injury claims involving medication administration.
  • Enforced the provisions of a utility tariff, resulting in summary judgment.  Case was affirmed on appeal.
  • Obtained a defense verdict for an electric utility company in a case involving damages arising out of Winter Storm Uri.
  • Prevailed on numerous summary judgment motions for various retailers in premises liability claims.
