Bill Cobb is sought after for his defense of professionals, particularly in the fields of law, insurance, real estate and securities brokerage. He represents professionals across Texas, in state and federal courts, as well as in administrative disciplinary proceedings. Mr. Cobb also represents businesses and business owners in litigation and arbitration. He is often called on to work as Texas counsel with out-of-state law firms, representing businesses, product manufacturers and distributors in commercial litigation, product liability, mass tort and intellectual property claims.

Representative Matters

Obtained defense verdict in a nine-week jury trial of legal malpractice and fiduciary duty claims asserted by a surgeon against the law firm that had represented him in a medical malpractice case. The surgeon had claimed over $15 million in lost earnings and damage to business reputation as a result of the public admission of surgical negligence he gave as a condition of his settlement agreement.

Obtained defense verdict in a highly publicized jury trial of wrongful death/survival and negligence claims against a retailer that had sold a semi-automatic handgun to a man who later used it in a shooting rampage at the Tarrant County courthouse. The plaintiff victims sought over $30 million in damages.

Worked with Wisconsin and Illinois attorneys from Foley & Lardner LLP as Texas counsel representing an aircraft systems manufacturer and a component supplier in a Northern District of Texas patent infringement suit asserted by a British defense contractor.
