Ramona Martinez
Ramona Martinez, Member With 20 years of trial experience, Ramona Martinez represents clients on a wide range of legal matters from personal injury, premises liability, construction and employment to products liability, commercial litigation, transportation and trucking and pharmaceutical litigation. One of Texas Monthly's and Law & Politics magazine's "Texas Super Lawyers" for the past eight years; in 2008 she was also named one of the Top 50 Female Lawyers in the State of Texas and one of the Top 100 Lawyers in the State of Texas . Ms. Martinez is the 2007-2008 recipient of the State Bar of Texas President Award in recognition of her work as a founding member of the Dallas Diversity Task Force.
Representative Matters
- Obtained defense verdict in a highly publicized jury trial of wrongful death/survival and negligence claims against a retailer that had sold a semi-automatic handgun to a man who later used it in a shooting rampage at the Tarrant County courthouse. The plaintiff victims sought over $30 million in damages.
- Successfully obtained summary judgement on behalf of major airline involving claims of wrongful termination, ADA and FMLA (affirmed by U.S. Supreme Court).
- Handled the defense of a trucking company and truck driver in one of Texas' deadliest crashes. Obtained a nominal settlement in a dram shop claim involving a major sports and arena vendor for injuries resulting from an altercation on the premises.
- Handled the defense of over 600 premises case.
- Represented pharmacists in mass tort/pharmaceutical litigation involving VIOXX and Baycol.
